The listening and speaking for formal setting course trains students to use some listening strategies for comprehending English conversations. Besides, this course guides students to use correct and appropriate English expressions in conversations which take place in formal or business settings.

Students are expected to be able to comprehend English conversation in the listening sections. Moreover, students are also expected to engage in conversations that take place in formal settings using correct and appropriate English expressions.

Academic Reading and Writing is a 4-credit compulsory course offered to students in the first semester. Students are expected to be able to comprehend and write good essays with good paragraphs to support their academic endeavor. The course covers writing good English sentences, good paragraphs, and good essays.
Listening and Speaking for Daily Conversation 2024/2025
Course Description
This course provides students with basic listening and speaking skills to survive English daily conversation. Therefore, more practices on speaking and listening are available in throughout the course. Students are encouraged to use English as much as possible as well as appreciating other students who use the language.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to converse with other people which include dialogues about about (a) self introduction and introducing others, talking about personal information, (b) describing things, (c) talking about activities, (d) asking and giving instruction and (e) asking and giving opinion.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to use English in their daily conversation comfortably, fluently and accurately. To achieve this objective, the learning outcomes are broken down as follows.
- Students are able to demonstrate conversation, which involves doing self-introduction and talking about personal information.
- Students are able to demonstrate oral presentation, which include describing things.
- Students are able to demonstrate conversation, which involves talking about their activities.
- Students are able to demonstrate a role-play, which consist of asking and giving instruction as well as opinion.
